THANK YOU ONE AND ALL

Well the big week-end has come and gone and from all the comments and reports that have come my way it would appear that the event has proved to be as popular and as enjoyable as ever.

The organising team, a combined effort by the South West Classic Trials Association and the West of England Motor Club, have welcomed and enjoyed the company of all the competitors and many old friends, especially the Observers without whom we could not have run the event and to whom we convey our thanks.

We also record our sincere thanks to the land owners, Mr. T. Whitley, Messrs C. Bowden & Sons and Mr. B. Vallance for their kindness in allowing us to use their land and also the generosity of our sponsors, The Twin Shock Shop of Sidmouth and County Garage of Kingsteignton. We ask you to please consider repaying our sponsors by using their services whenever appropriate.

From the start at Hound Tor on Saturday morning right up to the finish at Paradise at the end of the second day all went pretty much to plan thanks to all concerned, with particular thanks to Robin Hoare, as Clerk of the Course and his assistants, Peter Meeson, Gary Kinsman and Nick Hunt. Special thanks also to Nick who organised, set up, and transported the Signing-On trailer and portable toilets and, of course, Mike Naish for his help in pointing me in the right direction as this is the first event I’ve had the pleasure (I think?) of running as Secretary.

Huge congratulations to all the award winners and commiserations to those of you who didn’t do as well as you’d hoped this year, all-in-all it would appear that almost everyone had a really enjoyable weekend and with that in mind we very much hope you enter again next year. To be sure of an entry you need to watch the Club website: www.southwestclassictrials.co.uk or for local riders the South Western Centre Gazette and get your entry form in as soon as possible because, as with every year that goes by, the event is over-subscribed and we have to turn away entries.

With the future in mind, and I don’t know what sort of job I’ve made of being Secretary or if indeed I’ll be asked to do it again, but I would ask you all to consider, when submitting entries for the event to ensure that all entry forms and queries are made, in good time, via the Secretary of the meeting and not through other committee or Club members as it only serves to confuse the issue and make a time consuming job much more difficult. I look forward to seeing you all again for the Exmoor Two Day Trial at Easter (the 4th & 5th April next year) and again for “The Dartmoor Two Day” next September.

Thanks for your help and co-operation

Best wishes Codie Kinsman Secretary of the event
